Kayaking in the Clark Fork Drift Yard

This canvas is part of my Sandpoint collection, and is an attempt to encapsulate an impressionistic snapshot of glorious summertime in North Idaho. Technically, this location is the Clark Fork drift yard, an incredibly gorgeous collection of waterways in the southeast corner of Lake Pend Oreille. The peak of Green Monarch Mountain comes in at 5,082 feet (1,549 meters). The low-lake level is around 2,048 feet (624 meters).

I made the print by taking multiple photographs while kayaking with my family, and then processing them into a panorama as well as to look more like a watercolor painting. The kayaker in this print is my sister Sarah. It represents our intense love and joy of North Idaho's wild places, and sharing moments in these places with the people we love.
