On our final day my aunt and her friend rented a car, and we explored Iceland on our own.
Here, we were chatting about the woes/our mortification of the state of American politics. I actually didn't know it at the time but we were at the original site of the world's oldest parliament, called Alþingi! The area is called Þingvellir.
Then we visited some geysers...
This was the actual color!
And... here is the info about these geysers - interesting to some, definitely not all, definitely me! The language influence on English is so cool!
This waterfall really took my breath away. I feel like I didn't do justice capturing its power and enormity on camera.
Ástarsaga actually is Icelandic for "love story." I love that they have a word just for that!
I tried so hard to get a good picture of the three of us...
But let's be real. We were never going to get a Kodak moment if I was going to continue wearing that hat. I was determined to wear it even though it really isn't flattering, as I bought it in Argentina...
I rest my case.
This one was cute of these two though.
And this one definitely was their favorite.
So grateful for her cheerful self's willingness to let me take a million photos.
