After spending Christmas with our Arizona family, we took advantage of our being in the West to visit Dad in Ventura.
We visited a tree under which, hundreds of years ago, the Chumash used to carve out canoes. We experienced nature inside-and-out while we were there, as Dad has an incredible garden from which we ate daily! We went on lots of hikes. It was really cool to go back to Sylmar and visit people from church that I have missed dearly since leaving L.A. for Sandpoint. It was Boricua's first time in California, and we are so in love with the coast - mountains, beaches, thrift stores, Mexican food, weather, cultural diversity and great universities… We also saw a movie at the drive-in in Santa Barbara (picking up sushi on the way, of course) - another first for Boricua!
